Driveway Pavers

Installing driveway pavers is an exciting process that will yield years of curb appeal and durability. We strongly suggest the use of thick, 2 3/8" pavers over a 4 inch bed of compacted base material. This is also what the ICPI specs as the standard for residential vehicular applications. The process begins by marking all utility lines. This is a free service offered by the utility companies and can be coordinated with one simple phone call. Once the utilities have been marked, we can remove the existing driveway. In most cases, this process takes no more than one day to accomplish. That same day we will receive delivery of the pavers and the base material. We use concrete fines for our base material which is, in essence, your driveway which has been taken to a recycling plant, chewed up, and re-sold in the form of a fine, compactable aggregate.

Once the base is spread and compacted, we level the surface and now we install the pavers. The pavers are installed throughout the field which is typically the footprint of the old driveway. On occasion, a client will request that we expand an area of the driveway in order to accommodate foot traffic or another vehicle. Once the pavers have been laid, we spread joint sand overtop, sweep, compact the pavers, and wash the rest of the sand off. Finally, a concrete edge restraint is troweled along the perimeter of the driveway. This edge restraint must be installed on top of the same base material as the pavers, or else it will eventually fail and allow for displacement of the pavers. The product installed here is from Tremron. It is their Olde Towne, 3 piece combo, in their Old Chicago color. You can see more of their paverproducts by clicking here.
